A snippet from one of the panels of one of the many pages I failed to finish because I am unable to be happy with anything that I draw.

Sitting at my desk doing the actual drawing is relaxing and it makes me feel happy. However, when I see the end results of what I drew I am never ever happy with it.

99.9% of what I draw ends up in the trash with that last little bit becoming scratch paper for my ink tests.

In an effort to keep my brother from going insane and to prove to him I really am working on the submissions I say I am. I'm going to redouble my efforts to make sure I get up at least a panel a day of new things instead of me playing around on a half-dozen or more random things a day.
Here are some roughish pencils of an action panel, still need to go in and clean them up a bit before inking them. Maybe that will be tomorrow's panel or maybe it will be another pencilled on.
Too early to tell at this point.

Working through my inking shortcomings by just grinding through the page to learn what works and what doesn't work.
There is no way to learn things other than to screw up.
I've got most of it in, I need to find my design of the gun still, lost a sketchbook with all my reference stuff so it's taking longer than I had hoped.
Will be adding some inkwash and maybe some paints once the line work is done.

New power cord for my scanner and I am back in business updating the blog.

Page 1 of a four page Marvel story I'm working on to spiffy up my portfolio. I'm using the script from Dark Reign: Hawkeye No. 1.
There were lots and lots of spoken words going on this page and the script even said to leave a lot of dead space for all the caption bubbles. I figured this would be a good page to have in the portfolio just to show how I can move around the camera in a confined space and still make some of the shots relatively interesting.
All the rendering marks are super light because I am going to ink this page myself.
Time to break out the rapidographs and to get this page looking like a I know what I am doing.

It's so damn tough to draw for any long stretch of time with all this heat and humidity. I've spent most of my drawing time scribbling away in sketchbooks to pass the time until the wee hours of the morning.
But usually by then I am too tired to sit and draw anything complex or anything with a lot of little details in them.
Oh to have AC would be so glorious.
Anyway ... That right there is more stuff from that sample packet I am working on with my bro, 2h scribbles on that nasty blue line paper. Its horrible to pencil on but for some reason it holds an ink line real well.

Here's some more from that same page. Still trying to work out some kind of a coherent inking style that won't drive me crazy and/or become a blur of rendering marks. Not sure I am anywhere near there though.
But you won't get any better unless you plow through the crap and the discouraging times.

I had considered starting this art blog with a smattering of older works. Then I realized that would not be helping my cause any. Instead I've decided to put up at least a panel a day from the pages I'm working on to force myself to be a more efficient unemployed artist and to get a new updated online portfolio working.
What you have here is a panel from a sample packet me and my bro are working on to submit to the fine folks over at Shadowline.
Normally I would have also pencilled in the rendering/hatching/spotted blacks in that panel, but I've also got to ink it and having to draw that many lines twice would drive me insane.
